The cabin is the home base, but part of a North Georgia trip is getting out and exploring. The towns around Suches — Blairsville, Ellijay, Dahlonega, Blue Ridge — have restaurants with outdoor patios where your dog is welcome at the table. You do not have to leave them behind to go to lunch.
A note before you go: hours, days, and patio dog policies can change. Always call ahead before you make the drive. The list below reflects what we know as of summer 2026.
An Irish pub in a Georgia gold rush town, and one of the most genuinely dog-friendly restaurants on this list. Dogs are welcome on the outdoor deck — Georgia regulations keep them outside, but Shenanigans leans into it. They have a dog menu, and when we ordered a cheeseburger for our dog they brought it out cut up in a metal dog bowl. That is the level of effort we are talking about.
One honest note from Shenanigans themselves: on days with extreme heat or a high heat index, even shaded outdoor seating can become dangerous for dogs. They ask guests to bring dogs during the cooler parts of the day and keep fresh water available. If it is too hot for you, it is too hot for them.
theshenaniganspub.com →This is our go-to when we have dogs with us in Ellijay. Easy parking, a couple of steps up, and the setup is simple: one person stays outside with the dog while the other goes in to order. The food makes it more than worth it. Get the Cuban sandwich — it is genuinely one of the best around. They are known for their apple cake. You are in Ellijay. Do not skip dessert.
View on Google Maps →A local favorite with the kind of no-frills atmosphere that fits the mountains. Dog-friendly outdoor seating makes it easy to bring the whole crew for a meal after a day on the trail or the river.
holeinthewallga.com →Tacos and margaritas in the mountains — and both are genuinely good. Blairsville is the longer route from Suches to Vogel State Park, but it is the better drive — less mountain road, gentler curves, easier on passengers who prefer not to stare down a cliff. We take it anyway, and Lucky's with a dog-friendly patio is a natural stop on that loop.
luckystacoshop.com →The covered outdoor area has water bowls set out for dogs — small detail that says a lot. But the real move is buying in bulk: a big portion of pulled pork, cobbler, and sweet tea by the gallon. It rides back to the cabin and you snack on it all week. BBQ that good does not need a table.
ribcountrybbq.com →A large covered patio with fans, TVs, and cornhole makes this one of the more comfortable outdoor dining setups in Blairsville regardless of weather. Dogs are welcome outside.
View on Google Maps →Cuban food in the North Georgia mountains. Outdoor umbrella tables where your leashed dog can join you — an unexpected find in Blairsville and a good one.
View on Google Maps →A second Mexican option in Blairsville with dog-friendly outdoor seating. If Lucky's is full or you want something closer to downtown, El Manzanillo is worth knowing about.
View on Google Maps →Breakfast and lunch on a covered patio alongside a waterfall. A good first stop of the day before a hike, and the waterfall setting makes it worth the trip on its own.
View on Google Maps →A rock-themed bar and grill in downtown Blue Ridge with a large covered patio and ceiling fans. Comfort food made from scratch, no freezers, no microwaves. Dogs are welcome outside on the patio.
fightingtowntavern.com →Outdoor seating with lake views at Lake Blue Ridge. Dog-friendly patio, casual food, and the kind of view that makes it hard to leave. Worth the drive out to the lake.
lakeblueridgemarina.com →Right on the Toccoa River, with outdoor riverside seating and a dog menu — hot dogs, burgers, chicken, rice. This is the same river your dog has been swimming in all week. Lunch on the bank with the water moving past is a fitting way to end a trip.
